Confronting fear: lessons from the wild

A snake in Ghana, lions in South Africa, a buffalo in Uganda.

Fear shows up everywhere, from the wild to the business world, and the way we meet it shapes the outcome. Three encounters on the road made that concrete.

In Ghana, holding a snake for the first time, fear arrived unexpectedly. Staying calm and deliberate is what let me face it, the same way you handle the unknown in business.

In South Africa, walking with lions taught me the power of mindset. Facing the giants, the big clients, the high-stakes projects, the risky decisions, takes grounding, focus, and courage. Fear does not disappear, but how you respond defines the outcome.

In Uganda, watching a buffalo in the wild, the lesson was respect and patience. In leadership and teamwork, understanding other people's perspectives helps you navigate challenges calmly, avoid unnecessary conflict, and build trust.
